Honey Baked Apples

Honey Baked Apples

Apple pie without the pie! Who needs all those carbs anyway? This tasty dessert is not only low in carbs, but high in nutrients. Triterpenoids (found in apple peels) have potent anti-growth activity against cancer cells. Maybe an apple a day can keep the doctor away.

(Serves 6)

- 3 apples,
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp Omega Crunch Sweet Cinnamon Shelled Flax

Method:

Preheat oven 350 F.

Cut the apples in half and remove the core/seeds. Cut a grid on the inside of each apple (this allows for the mixture to permeate the whole apple as it bakes). In a small bowl, combine the honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and flax. Brush the mixture on each apple and fill each “hole” where the core has been removed. Bake uncovered in a baking dish for 40-45 minutes.
