Christmas baking is in full swing around my house and if you're like me, you'll appreciate simple treats made with real ingredients. Here's a recipe the family and guests will love that only takes a few minutes to prepare.
(Yields 8-10 Pieces)
Ingredients:1/3 cup walnuts
Method:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Put all dry ingredients in a bowl and mix until the salt is evenly distributed.
Heat a medium sauce pan over medium heat and add the maple syrup. Stir occasionally. Stir more regularly once you see bubbles forming in the syrup. Once all the syrup is bubbling (nothing but tiny bubbles!) add the dry ingredients and stir until they are all coated. Continue stirring until all the liquid is gone from the syrup (about 5 minutes - times vary). Transfer the mixture to the lined baking sheet and use the back of a wooden spoon or spatula to flatten the mixture out on the parchment paper. The mixture will fully harden upon cooling. Allow to fully cool before breaking into pieces. To speed up the cooling process, place the baking sheet in the freezer.
